Migraines & Headaches

Picture
Whether your headaches are chronic from years of stressful living; the result of an unresolved concussion; triggered by food or loud sounds; by chemical smells or dehydration, the core of the problem may be corrected through meticulous assessment and treatment of the neck and brainstem. Many processes occur in the brainstem and if the information coming through is noxious or corruptive, then this information can create different kinds of resulting conditions, migraines and headaches being one. We call this a sensitised brainstem and it is core to the Watson Headache Approach.

The assessment comprises of a series of techniques, which, when applied in a systematic way, slowly but deliberately exposes the mis-aligned neck bone segments and changes the way the communication occurs in the brain from the brainstem processes. Over some time, unique to each individual, and with specific neck muscle releases, the neck becomes freer and begins to move easily with comfort, side to side and up, back and down. The episodes of head pain decrease substantially to sporadic or none.

The Watson Headache Approach is now recognised internationally, practiced and taught in over 25 countries, for its unparalleled diagnostic accuracy and is unequaled in manual therapy approaches for headache and migraine conditions. This dedicated clinic is one of the few offering this de-sensitisation treatment approach in New Zealand.  Know that you can begin to live your life headache-free without the need for pain medication or ongoing treatment.

The most common head pain conditions that can be treated medication-free include...
  • Migraines
  • Tension headache (also with accompanying neck pain)
  • Ophthalmic (Eye) Migraine
  • Sinus Pain
  • Menstrual migraine
  • Cluster headache
  • Migraines from ingestants (food/drink)
  • Vestibular migraine
  • Trigeminal neuralgia
  • Concussion head pain

The diagnostic accuracy of the Watson Headache® Approach is unparalleled. It can confirm if disorders in the upper neck are responsible for headache or migraine and determine the exact nature of the disorder as well as which spinal joints are involved. There is no guesswork and no cracking or manipulation. Its unique and powerful feature involves temporary reproduction and resolution (easing) of usual head pain.

The initial evaluation is critical particularly if you have had many other types of therapies. The reason for this is three-fold; the first is that we look for signs or clinical findings commonly overlooked by others. The second reason is to make sure there is no underlying damage to the tissue which makes treatment unsafe. Thirdly, to rule out secondary headaches that are coming from more serious pathologies.  We use new techniques not used by many and that are leading-edge and scientifically proven to alleviate head pain.

You will leave with a properly aligned head & neck with your atlas bone orthogonal which often is successful in alleviating symptoms like some headaches, neck pain, posture problems, head rotation problems, bending issues and others.
